Advise on Importing a car from the US to BC, Canada?

I am trying to import a vehcile that has never been registered in the US and therefore does NOT have a title. There is the MCO or MSO (manufacturers certificate of Origin). Some border people say that will work and some say it wont there NEEDS to be a title. I can't just buy a car with an inconsistent message and then possibly have them tell me I can't import it. Any advice?Advise on Importing a car from the US to BC, Canada?
The ONLY way for you to be purchasing a vehicle without a previous title is for you to have literally purchased it right off the end of the assembly line, at the original manufacturing facility. Otherwise, there IS a title, usually in the dealer's name (or they couldn't have it on their lot, and allow it to be taken for test drives).

To export from US, you require either a title or ORIGINAL of the manufacturer's statement of origin (and two additional copies). You must provide the documentation at least 72 hours prior to moving the vehicle acorss the border, AND have the vehicle presented (and inspected) by US Customs.

In addition, THE OWNER MUST ESTABLISH THAT THE JURISDICTION FROM WHERE THE VEHICLE COMES DOES NOT HAVE ANY OWNERSHIP DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS REGARDING SUCH VEHICLES and provide to Customs the original document that shows the basis for ownership or right of possession, such as a bill of sale, and two complete copies of that original document. Further, the owner must certify in writing to Customs that the procurement of the vehicle was a bona fide transaction, and that the vehicle presented for export is not stolen.

To import to Canada, you shoudl really check out the attached link. For example, you'll need to know :

- - Which vehicles can be imported (from US or other source)

- - which modifications, if any, are required

- - is that particular vehicle under a recall notice

- - does your province have requirements that must be met

- - what documentation do you need

- - what duty and taxes must be paid

- - how do you move the vehicle without permanent licence plates

The procedure for legally importing a car from the US to Cananda can be found at the website of the Registrar of Imported Vehicles. This is a private agency contracted by the Government of Canada to handle the importation procedures.

Their website is www.riv.ca
Not only do you have to ';import'; the vehicle to Canada, but you also have to legally ';export'; it from the US. US customs must be advised when ever a vehicle is exported from the US. US Customs will permit export of non-titled vehicles if you have the ORIGINAL Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (SO), which you have.

Check out the links below for Canada Customs vehicle importation requirements.

Even if Canada Customs doesn't require title, the Province of BC might when you go to register it.
