My friend is looking for a school for audio engineering, any advise?

My friends really love music and she is looking for a school for audio engineering school in New York City. But she thinks that only community college can hit her budget.

Please advise for her and thank you in advance. Any one?My friend is looking for a school for audio engineering, any advise?
I'm not sure that a BS degree is issued for audio engineering but maybe so. I would look at finding a community college that works with the local university to allow students to take their core classes at the CC and then move into the university at a junior level. This is the ';new'; thing to help students be able to afford a 4 year degree. Have her call some to the CC (not Vo-Tech) in her area.My friend is looking for a school for audio engineering, any advise?
She should consider applying for financial aid first. There IS money out there that she can receive for school. SAE (NY), Full Sail, University of Miami offer some of the best audio engineering programs in the country.

Why would an anesthesiologist advise me?

to not wear nail polish or makeup before a surgery?

Are they really going to check my toes for polish during my oral surgery?

Thanks! Why would an anesthesiologist advise me?
Nail polish interferes with a monitor that we use, that uses a finger clip to tell how much oxygen is in your blood.

Makeup prevents us from evaluating your skin color, and if you have mascara on, it could flake off, go into your eye and cause a corneal abrasion.

There really are reasons behind the rules. I don't think your toenail polish is going to matter.

If it's oral surgery in the oral surgeon's office (as opposed to orthognathic oral surgery in a hospital), it's not as big a deal, but you really ought to do what they say.

I make women wash off their makeup, and I have removed nail polish and jewelry. I'm constantly amazed at how people don't think the rules apply to them. Why would an anesthesiologist advise me?
Because they'll just end up removing the nail polish. They have a machine to check how well you're getting oxygen into your blood, and it has to shine a light through your nail - either of your toenail or fingernail (whichever is more convenient and closer to the machine). That's all. For oral surgery, they'll probably just use your finger. :D
It's so they can check for capillary refill. They press on your nail and count how many seconds it takes until it turns pink again. Thats a quick way of seeing how well your blood is circulating in your extremities.
I think the answer lies in the possibility of complications surely, but maybe if you wear really bright polish it could dazzle the surgeon under all those operating theater lights.

PLUMBERS, will you please advise if I need a PRESSURE RELIEF valve in addition to the T & P on the wtr heater?

I have purchased a REPLACEMENT bladder tank for my residential well, and the instruction sheet says I should install a pressure relief valve. The EXISTING system does not have a separate one, except for the T %26amp; P valve on the water heater.

Insofar as the water heater shares the same pressures in the system, is this one valve all that is required?

The new tank is rated for a 125 psi working pressure maximum, and I intend to use the system with a 40 - 60 psi pressure switch.

The T %26amp; P relief on the water heater has a tag showing 150 psi.

Your help will be appreciated.PLUMBERS, will you please advise if I need a PRESSURE RELIEF valve in addition to the T %26amp; P on the wtr heater?
T and P stands for Temperature and pressure.

Pressure relief is covered unless your area has some odd requirements but this is primarily protection for your water heater and that circuit.

My well in Houston had an air bleeder valve on the tank but my pump would never have gotten up to those pressures and yours probably wont either.

The law requires that all pressure tanks be rated but relief valves are seldom a requirement on well pump systems.

Good Luck!PLUMBERS, will you please advise if I need a PRESSURE RELIEF valve in addition to the T %26amp; P on the wtr heater?
A Pressure Relief valve (PRV) is designed to protect pressure vessels from pressures in excess of their rating. If your tank is rated at 125 psig, then a 150 psig relief valve will not actuate in time to protect it. In addition there should be no valve in the line between the vessel to be protected and the relief valve. Otherwise you could isolate the tank from the PRV and in effect nullify its utility.

Do Not rely on a pressure switch to protect your tank.
You have just read a Disclaimer from the company that made the tank. This protects them in case you decide to go above pressures stated for the tank. I have never had a seperate valve on any of my tanks.
i cant recall seeing a relief valve on any of my water tanks. not a plumber with a license, but i doubt very much if a water pump would pump 125 lbs pressure. but could not guarantee it. never saw it happen. the hot water tank has a relief valve because the tank could malfunction and overheat, creating high pressures. never saw a water tank overheat. but if you want to feel better sbout it, they do not cost much. peace of mind.
USA It never hurts to install an extra TPR valve. You need to have a TPR valve at the water heater. If there are no valves between the bladder tank and the water heater, you do not need to install a separate TPR valve for the bladder tank.
if you are only replacing the tank the connection which looks like a t should have a pressure relief on it it looks like a screw.the part if pipe where the water hose goes to. head, that is separate from your water heater relief valve.
You should have a relief valve set at 125psi on the new tank. That tank and any pressurized tank should have a pressure relief valve on them to prevent explosion. It is a safety issue. Water heaters are rated at 150psi working pressure that is why you have a 150psi relief valve on it.They are not that expensive. Install the PRV
i would use the one valve on your hot water tank ,but building commishiner might feel different

Is anyone out there a massage therapist? If so, do you find it profitable and do you have any advise?

I am thinking about becoming a massage therapist and was wondering if anyone out there could give me advise like: is it better to work at a spa, Dr's office, etc..or to be on your own making housecalls, what do you make/ year, do you find it enjoyable? If you are self employeed, do you have to have special insurance to protect yourself should something go wrong? What kind of schooling did you receive? Thanks so much!Is anyone out there a massage therapist? If so, do you find it profitable and do you have any advise?
I have been a professional massage therapist for 10 years, and making my living exclusively by doing massaage for the last 5.

The best place to work is where you are happiest and connect to the clients. Spa work is fun but not too serious, doctor/chiro offices require good skills and puts you in contact with alot of banged up people who appreciate your help but dont tip. Self employment giuves you freedom and you keep all your money, but some people are not cut out for the harsh realities of self employtment.

You can make between 15 band 70 per hour. The average massage therapist makes about 30,000 per year.

By joining a group like AMTA (www.amtamassage) you get insurance that covers you for liability. You can add on a 'slip and fall' policy for another 100 per year (total about $350).

You should get about 500 hours of education, this is enought to get you licensed unless you live in Florida or NY, then you need 1000 hours.

Best place to start: get a professional massage and ask the person some questions. Check out a few local massage schools and ask to speak to recent graduates. Talk to everyone in the business and see if this work is right for you.

    Good luck.

I'm very curious about these questions about sex so please advise would help. 10 Easy Points?

I'm 16 in 11th Grade and a Virgin I have some question I have been curious about for a while but since I'm a virgin I don't want anybody to know that.

1.Does sex feel just like masturbation?

2.Does sex really feel as good as people say or is it just like whatever?

3.I'm uncircumcised is sex gonna hurt cause of the little skin in the back?I'm very curious about these questions about sex so please advise would help. 10 Easy Points?
1 no not a chance; and odds are the first time you get inside you will explode right off the bat. you might want to start masterbating with a ky or another lubricant and try to warm it up so you can get a more real feel

2 it does feel great but only with the person that is right for you; it isn't that great if your not into the person. make sure that your with the right person and don't get pussed into it.

3 nope you won't be able to tell a thing just make sure that you clean when your done to decrease infection

    have fun

im if you have any other questions

mikeI'm very curious about these questions about sex so please advise would help. 10 Easy Points?
It is not weird to be 16 and a virgin. Most people I know were still virgins after graduating from high school. Sex is different from masturbation. It feels different, ends different and so on. Mostly because of the different movements and points of contact (you know what to expect from your hand, another person can surprise you at any moment). The first time sex can be a bit of a let down if you do it for the wrong reasons. Sex is incredible because of the emotions involved and the closeness to the person you've decided to do it with, as you get more experienced the sex gets better (practice makes perfect). Being uncircumcised won't hurt you during sex but for her sake make sure you clean under the flap of skin, you'd be amazed at how many guys forget that!
    1. No, it feels very different.

    2. It really does feel great. :-)

    3. No, it shouldn't hurt. If things start to get a little dry, have some lube handy like K-Y to ease things up a bit.

Be safe, be smart, use protection, and have fun!
    1) No....but the climax is pretty much the same (just add some social discomfort)

    2) It does....the person and situation will vary.... but it isn't the be all, end all, of human existance I assure you....

    3) It shouldn't matter....
    1. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY better

    2. WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY better

    3. no it'll feel better because theryll be more friction

    hope this helps! :]

    answer mine too?

STEPDAUGHTERS BEDTIME?can anyone advise me plz what time would you send a 11 year old child to bed?

can anyone advise me plz what time would you send a 11 year old child to bed?my unruley stepdaughter wants to please herself and is starting to be cheeky, lie and theive now she thinks shes big now shes started high school?STEPDAUGHTERS BEDTIME?can anyone advise me plz what time would you send a 11 year old child to bed?
If she is being cheeky, lying and thieving and generally misbehaving, send her to bed as soon as she has dinner!! I have an 11 year old, and that's what happens to him when he is like this.

However, in general, I think around 8.30. In my opinion, parents need their own space too. Having a young kid up later than that prevents you from being able to have couple time. If she wants to stretch it to 9pm, tell her she needs to go to bed at 8:30 but you will let her read for 1/2 hour before lights out.

My son isn't in high school yet, and he goes to bed around 8pm, and falls asleep immediately, but he really needs his sleep, he's always been a big sleeper, but I never get any arguments from him about it because he knows he's tired. He is also very active physically, so by the end of the day, he is exhausted.STEPDAUGHTERS BEDTIME?can anyone advise me plz what time would you send a 11 year old child to bed?
I agree that if she's being rude, lying, and not following rules then the bedtime needs to be strict and continue until she corrects her behavior. I think all priveledges should be taken as well (computer,tv,etc). that oughta remind her that she's not as ';big'; as she thinks she is and there are rules in your house.

once you get the behavior under control, I say in room by 8:30 and lights out by 9p. by daughter is 9 and this is what we do. the only exception is monday nights when she has cheer practice and we don't get home until about 8:30p. she really needs her sleep so I feel it best for her to be asleep by 9p and my fiance and I really need that time in the evening to catch up and connect with each other w/out child interruption.

I would let her read but no computer or tv-the eye strain while watching it will make her more alert

    hope this helps!!

When my son was 11 he went to bed at 8pm and then had to read for 30 minutes before turning out the light. It was hard to get him up in the morning and that was the reason for the earlier bedtime. He's a bookworm too...I'd find him awake at midnight with a flashlight reading.

My daughter at that age went to bed at 8:30pm and had to read for 30 minutes. Often times when I went to check on her and tell her it was time for lights out...she'd already be sleeping.

My son is 12 now, and just started high school (not Jr high...High school, he will graduate in 4 years). I upped his bedtime to 9pm with 30 minutes of reading but told him if we have any problems then it will be moved to an earlier time.

I've never used early bedtime as a punishment for anything other than not getting up in the morning. Punishments should fit the crime.

When my kids try to get mouthy, if their friends are around I discipline them in front of their friends and make sure their friends know that it's an act for their benefit, and then if it continues I make it hard for them to hang around with that friend. When friends aren't around, they lose privileges like phone, computer etc.
um VA Mama depending on where you live 11yr olds do start HIGH school.

here in the UK my daughter is in what is known as high school, or secondary school, or maybe senior school. age 11-16 or from this yrs intake now 11-18yrs

anyway back to the question my 11yr old in high school (as of 1 whole day) her bed time is 9pm -9.30pm school nights and between 9pm and 11pm fri sat nights.........

Children need a good nights sleep before school. i'm quite strict with my son too he's almost 17yr old and in college now if he does not get enough sleep he won't work so well the next day........and he is working towords A levels, plans to go on to university. and his plan his he wants to be a forensic scientist. well to me that means he needs to be well rested. Hopefully one day he's gonna be making good money for himself . My job is having him as alert as possible to prepare himself. he gets a later bed time than his younger sisters but not by too much
i say 9pm is a good time for that age, give or take. and maybe on the weekends a little later, but by 11pm on those nights. My niece is around the same age and she generally can't stay up past 11 (if i let her on special nights). but school nights and regular nights 9pm. probably start getting them in P.J.'s and have showered/bathed/teeth brushed by 8pm so that they start unwinding. :)
Well, I am 11 and I go to bed at 10:00. I'm in bed by 9:30 and I read for a half an hour. I have to do that for school and just to settle down. That's the time I'd recommend, I get up at 7:00 AM and I'm perfectly fine. I'm not sleepy, just lazy. Lol.
I would say 10 Pm but it is up to the child's Father. You and him have to pick a time, and he has to enforce it. That will keep you from looking like the evil stepmother. Talk to him when she is not around.
11 year olds don't start high school...you probably meant junior high. But anyway, when I was 11 I think my bedtime was 9.
    9:00 is completely reasonable.
anywhere between 8:30 and 9...9 the latest
id send her to bed at 9:30 but thats the latest
My 11 yr old goes to bed at 9.
weird. anyway 8:30-9 is when my 11 year old sister goes to sleep.

My Ten year old son seems to be going down hill advise?

I have two boys a ten year old and a seven year old. My ten year old seems to have just given up for some reason he wont eat he wont drink he refuses to talk to me or my husband. He has been crying himself to sleep, when he gets home from school he just goes straight to bed for some reason. He has been having night terrors but i am not sure what to do with those. Any advise or help?My Ten year old son seems to be going down hill advise?
I would definitely take him to see someone. I honestly don't think bullies would be causing that problem. It does sound like someone may be molesting him (I pray this is so not the case) but I would take him to see someone. You can also try and talk to the school, the teacher or someone just to see about his behavior in class. If it is a bully situation, they may know. I would not approach the molesting scenario to the school because if it is at the school, you would not want to give them a heads up on that.My Ten year old son seems to be going down hill advise?
i think his classmates are responsible for his strange behavior at home.

may be they are not good him.or they find some reason to make him inferior among them.please don;t ask him too many times .may be he don;t want to discuss his bad experience with you people. show him that you are with him and his is too strong to face any problem. or you can say if you want to be like us or any great personality then you have to understand what situation is and what better you can do to with our help.

two or more minds are better then one.
my first thought was something going on at school, bullies? or it also sounds like he could be being molested..idk i hope not but you might want to take him to a counsler..
See a doctor he/she will be able to advise you about night terrors! Hope things get better.

  • What is your best advise if you have a trainny at work that is so obnoxious to and everyone?

This lady is a mother of 3 and acts like a child. She points out people in class, disrupts conversations, and she is very excited to a point that its getting really bad. What should I do or say to a person like this? What is your best advise if you have a trainny at work that is so obnoxious to and everyone?
that's Trainee, talk to the bossWhat is your best advise if you have a trainny at work that is so obnoxious to and everyone?
    (Hee hee hee)

    I'm a tranny..never mind....
    Is this ';in class'; or ';at work???';

Or are you referring to training classes??

    I'd point out the disruptions to the ';instructor'; or ';supervisor.';

If you happen to be the instructor or even hiring supervisor, I'd pull her aside and point out her disruptive behavior to her. If she persists and does not change her behavior, maybe she's not the right person for the job.
I am afraid my friend that I don't have the answer for this one, sorry.
    how about ';we are not your kids lady, CHILL OUT ALREADY!';
Um, i say tattle on her!
Unless you are the trainer/supervisor, you don't do anything. It is for the trainer/supervisor to observe and act
Speak to your supervisor or the person who's running the class. Her bad behavior should not be stopping you from learning what you need to do your job well.

Please advise me on how I can pledge to a sorority?

I graduated from college 5 years ago. I already know which sorority. But I just don't know what to do next. HelpPlease advise me on how I can pledge to a sorority?
The sororities usually has a rush meaning they ask new ppl to come and you mingle. like a party. Then they decide if they like you and they will send you something saying so.

Most sororities usually then give you tests to make sure your right for the sorority. If it's an interview and a few games: stay. If they tie you up, beat you up or tell you to do anything you don't want to do: leave. It's not for you.

But in the end, try to choose a sorority that will benefit you in the future.

    Good luck!

Why is it the health visitors and midwifes advise you not to use stage 2 or stage 3 formula?

They tell you just to increase the amount of stage one instead of moving to stage 2 however because you are just increasing the amount of stage one, that is alot of fluid to put in the baby's tummy instead of just a smaller dose of stage 2.

    Why is it?

Thanks xWhy is it the health visitors and midwifes advise you not to use stage 2 or stage 3 formula?
in my experience (i have 3 children) health visitors and midwives are very unhelpful and make you feel useless, so you do what u feel is right for your child, just tell the health visitor what she wants to hear and she will leave you alone, any advice i need about my children i get it from my mum,

and in my experience stage 2 milk was good for my first daughter as she was a very hungry baby but it did give her a few tummy problems,Why is it the health visitors and midwifes advise you not to use stage 2 or stage 3 formula?
I don't listen to my HV. All they do is tell you how to be a mum. And only you should know how to be a mum to YOUR child.

They're full of crap most of the time anyway.

Listen to your instincts, you obviously think you must be right otherwise you wouldn't be saying it to yourself and asking other people about it.

    Good luck to you!
i put my 2 boys onto stage 2 milk quite early (much to my hv disgust but hey there my kids she wasnt listening to them crying) as they were hungry they never had any problems with it but i do belive some babies can get colicky my kids never nor did they end up fat babies they perfect wieghts for there heights
Some babies grow really fat on stage too due to the high fat and calorie content.

My friends little boy went on stage 2 and 4 weeks, he is 9 months now and is 30lbs and wears clothes for a 2 year old!

I am interested in purchasing my first piece of rental real estate. Can you please advise me?

I have read some basic real estate books. I have minimal cash on hand, but can probably come up with $100-$150k in low interest loans for the down payment. The piece of property I'm looking at is currently unoccupied, but has a fair market rental value of $2200-$3000 a month. It is a two bedroom, two bath apartment in san diego. According to zillow.com, it has a value of about $700,000. However, I'm hoping I can make an offer for much less because it has been unoccupied for over six months.

Based on this information, what do you all see as the next step. Does this look like a favorable piece to invest in? Have I provided enough information? Thanks a million!I am interested in purchasing my first piece of rental real estate. Can you please advise me?
    There are several things here:

    1) Getting loans for the down payment can be good in the right situation, but you have to buy right. Remember, interest paid is an expense that will cut into your bottom line. Generally, you want to mortgage as much as you can but only as much as you can comfortably pay off through rental receipts. The more you borrow, the harder that is.

    2) You give a wide range of possible rental receipts. That tells me you don't know the rental market for this kind of property well enough. You should be able to a much closer number - ie $2500-$2750 or whatever.

You need to look at all expenses. First, you have to realize there will be some vacancies - no income while it is vacant, advertising costs, etc.

Then there are things like taxes and insurance, and you need a budget to handle repairs. Both short term repairs like plugged toilets, as well as long term expenses like eventually replacing carpet, roof, repainting and the like.

Investors normally figure 50% of the rental will be taken up in maintenance, vacancy expenses, administrative costs, property taxes and the like.

So if we take $2200 as rent, that means that $1100 would be available to pay for the mortgage.

    A 30 year mortgage for a $700,000 property is $4,657.12

    at $500,000 it is $3,326.51

    at $300,000 it is $1,995.91

This is all assuming you can get 7% financing on a non-owner occupied (investor) loan.

So from my perspective, this is a deal that would send me screaming away in terror if I wanted to do a rental.

If this was truly a $700,000 property, if I could buy for $600,000 then I'd consider buying to resell, but in today's market I'd have to feel incredibly strong about doing it.

    Also, be very careful about Zillow, or other on line sites for getting valuations. I've seen these in general (and Zillow in particular) to be off by as much as 30%. So much of determining valuation is based on comparing similar properties. Online services have a great difficulty comparing houses that have been rehabbed vs those that haven't, as well as other amenities that inpact on value, especially in ';transitional neighborhoods.';

So from a rental aspect I'd say this is a dog. It could still possibly be a good investment to purchase and resell, especially if there is some need of repair and rehab because it has been vacant for so long, but then we'd have to talk about other numbers.

Some general advice: Most areas have Real Estate Investment (REI) clubs. These are places where real estate investors, lenders, accountants, lawyers and others meet regularly to talk about issues and to network. If you are knew to the business it is a great way to rub elbows with people who work in real estate, make contacts and pick up real life knowledge.

You can find listings for real estate clubs in your area by visiting www.reiclub.com which is also a great resource for new REI.

Consider getting a mentor - or see about partnering up with an established real estate investor. If you can realistically get financing without a problem, there are loads of investors who could partner with you on a couple of deals. They provide the deal, you provide the financing and get to watch a couple deals happen while you make some money. After 2-3 deals like that you will have learned enough to do some on your own.

There is a widely accepted, 3-levels of real estate investment that goes like this:

If there is a deal you can't do - refer another investor to it (you'll get a referal fee)

If there is a deal but you can only do part of it - keep some of the profit and pass the rest on to another investor - either as a partner of assign the rights t them (wholesaling)

Do the deals that you can do by yourself.

Good luckI am interested in purchasing my first piece of rental real estate. Can you please advise me?
For normal financing, your down payment can't be ';borrowed.'; It has to be your own money. You'll need a stated income/asset loan or no-doc. Good luck...these types of loan are pretty much gone these days...especially on investment properties.

If you want to do full-doc, then you'll have to take out the loans, then let the money sit in your bank account long enough so you can provide the lender w/two months bank statements showing the $ is in there, but make sure the statements don't show the deposit...if the underwriter sees the deposit, you will then have to show where the $ came from and you'll be denied.
Your next step is to finalize the financial arrangements so you can offer the seller something verified and valid.
I would not trust zillow.com, they are never accurate and current. And don't make the mistake of not using a Realtor to represent you. You pay no fees to the Realtor anyway, the seller does. Have a Realtor run comparibles for you to see what the competition is to determine if list price for the property is great and below market, or high and above market, etc. You can also offer anything you want, you don't have to hope for that. You can only hope your offer is accepted. With the way things are right now, sellers are lucky if they even get an offer.
If your mortgage, taxes, insurance and upkeep are less than what you plan to get in rents, assuming you plan for vacancies during the year, its a good buy.

Employment advise: how to leave or quit a job, earlier than expected?

I was recently hired as a part time employee at a local agency, and I have a bit of responsibilities that are solely mine. The pay is really not enough, and the job duties are below my competency (I have a BA); however, I accepted the offer with the knowledge that I probably will not stay for over four months.

I am currently going through testings and various interviews for full time and much better paying positions elsewhere. I know that the hiring at these places will take two+ months. Ideally I would be hired by the end of the 2007 year, but I really cannot say.

The people at the local agency are genuinely very nice, and I feel bad about the situation that I will probably have to put them in. There is only one woman training me, and she is just great. However, I have not told anybody about my situation since the full time position is still not for sure.

When should I let my employer know about my desires to leave?? Is it weird to be feeling guilty?Employment advise: how to leave or quit a job, earlier than expected?
You said yourself they know you will leave before long. Give them 2 weeks notice at the least, a month if you think they won't fire you on the spot or won't allow you to work the full month. It's normal to feel guilty when you leave a job if you care for the people there. I had something very similar happen, and I was crying as I gave my two-weeks' notice. They kept me on the two weeks and I even trained my replacement over the two weeks after that. And when SHE didn't work out, they hired me as a consultant again to train someone new. So, things never go exactly the way you think they will. But you need to be thinking of your future and your here and now and make the best decisions for your career and life. If that means leaving this part-time position, then it's just something that you'll have to find your way through. It helps to let them know how much you've enjoyed working for them and how much you appreciate all they did for you while even knowing you were only going to be there for a short time.Employment advise: how to leave or quit a job, earlier than expected?
    You're welcome. Good luck!!

First, make sure the potential employer does not contact your present employer before you have a chance to discuss it with them. You should give at least two weeks notice before leaving employment. Once you know you may be a short list candidate, I'd let my employer know that I am seeking full time work but will give them adequate notice.
You work for a temp agency and thats fine, thats part of the whole scheme. They know youre not permanent, and over qualified for the job. WHEN YOU KNOW the other job is permanent, THEN u tell the agency and give 2 week notice. The shoes will be filled.. dont stress it, but its normal to be feeling bad... but u do the right thing by giving proper notice and helping to train whoever replaces you will be the proper thing to do!! THEY WILL understand!! Besides, feeling guilty is only when u have done something wrong, and u havent!! Good Luck with the job!!
Its understandable to fell guilty. Just submit a letter giving them 2 weeks notice of your seperation. This will enable you to use the job as a reference in the future if you want to and you leave the company on decent terms.
When you have a firm offer from another employer ,

They will ask when you can start .

Tell them you need to give a 2 week notice to your current employer .

Employers hiring know this is the standard courtesy ,

And usually allow this unless there is some emergency .

( I even gave a start date of 2 months off one time )

Then give the temp agency the 2 week notice .

This is standard business protocol and you should get over guilt feelings ASAP . They are irrelevant to this situation .

    %26gt;
Don't feel guilty, you have to look out for yourself. I wouldn't say a word to anyone until you know you have another position. Try to give them a 2 week notice of when you will be quiting. Usually when you are newly hired they will ask when you can start. Just say that you need two weeks. That is the norm.

  • Thoughts/advise on installing new heating/air system?

I live in a duplex that has a pretty old heating/air system. The thermostat isn't exactly accurate anymore so we never really know when the system is going to kick on and off. That plus the poor insulation in the home causes our electric bill to go up more each year. I'm planning on doing whatever I can to fix the insulation but I'd really like to put in a new heating/air system. Does anyone know where I should start in for this project?Thoughts/advise on installing new heating/air system?
Why not start with the insulation and a $40 thermostat and see what that does? It's a lot cheaper and thermostats do go bad. If you replace the heat/AC it will be more efficient but the cost will take years to recoup. What I mean is how much a year can you really expect to save? Take that savings and divide it into the cost of the new system and see how many years it will take to pay for it. If the system still works well, then set the money aside and let the Heat/AC run until it dies, then replace it.

Any advise on Northwestern Mutual financial rep positions?

I am looking at this company, wanted to ask if anybody has any idea about salary, benefits, corporate culture, etc, Thank youAny advise on Northwestern Mutual financial rep positions?
I actually just quit as a Northwestern Mutual financial rep. It's a great company with a long and prestigious history. They're one of the most financially strong and stable companies in the world right now thanks to the fact that they're a mutual company and not a stock company and that less than 0.1% of the company's portfolio was exposed to the whole sub-prime mortgage mess that is toppling giants like Lehman and Morgan Stanley.

With that said, life as a financial rep is tough right now. At Northwestern the compensation is 100% commission and with the economy as screwed up as it is these days, people sure aren't rushing to buy insurance and investment products to put money in your pocket. I didn't stay long enough to experience the benefits but the retirement packages seem really solid. The corporate culture is also really nice, it truly is a family in that company and you can always count on another rep to help you out even if you've never met them before. The company as a whole is also very open to the religious beliefs of their employees, they open their annual meeting (all 10,500 employees meeting in Milwaukee every summer) with a prayer.

In the beginning you have to rely on your natural market (friends, family, former coworkers, etc.) to make sales pitches to. If you run out of natural market contacts you'll have to start cold calling. It all comes down to how hard you are willing to work and how good you are at building relationships (aka selling) and making new contacts.

Hope that helps, and if you decide to hire on with them good luck. Any advise on Northwestern Mutual financial rep positions?
It is only a viable opportunity if you know people. Go do something professional, build a stream of networks, then think of working with Northwestern. At first, I thought it was a hoax, but it is business where you are in the drivers seat on building your income potential. It is probably not for someone straight out of college, but rather for someone who has been in an industry can sell the products to people in that niche.

Are tlle kitchen countertops difficult to keep clean? I am planning kitchen remodel and need advise ?

what surface is the best, stainless steel, granite, corian? Are tlle kitchen countertops difficult to keep clean? I am planning kitchen remodel and need advise ?
Yes. Food gets in the grout and is tough to get out.

Granite is the current fashion, but it's expensive.

Corian is nice because if you damage it you can sand it out.Are tlle kitchen countertops difficult to keep clean? I am planning kitchen remodel and need advise ?
Do Silestone. It's stronger than granite, and it doesn't have to be sealed every year like granite. Looks a little like granite, but less ';marbled.'; It's gorgeous and performs amazingly well. We have it everywhere in the house and love it!
the best bang for your buck is corian from what i understand. Most of my uncles build houses and they all rave about how good of a product that is.
    Yep there a pain....

Go with Granit, Courian, or just a lamianate....
If you have the money, go Corian. If the tiles are seated properly, and the grouting is properly sealed, then it really isnt that hard to keep clean. Just takes yearly maintenance to keep it that way. I.E. re-applying the sealers..Corian, although it IS superbly easy to clean, it's like your glass topped stoves. Abrasive cleaners can scratch the surface..
yes pick something else would suggest corian
Don't do it. It is just too butt ugly.
If you're planning to remodel do it right and go Corian.
The grout can be tough to keep clean, and the tile surface might become scratched. Granite is nice, but very expensive. Corian is very durable. You can cut right on the counter without ruining the surface. Stainless steel is used in many commercial kitchens, and is easy to clean; however, the look may not be desirable for a home kitchen.

Are there any rural areas of the North you would advise backpackers to avoid; they are bypassing all towns?

and cities, but is there ever any crime or teenagers hanging about in the villages or rural areas? Are there any rural areas of the North you would advise backpackers to avoid; they are bypassing all towns?
    Not really.

Crime isn't really something I would worry about in the UK anyway, unless you deliberately intend to tour high crime areas and inner cities, and in rural Northern England (particularly North Yorkshire) the crime rate is so low as to be not worth mentioning.

Outside of towns, I think you're more likely to be struck by lightning than have any problems with crime or unruly youths. There aren't many people living in these places to begin with, and the population tends to be wealthier and older.

I personally have been walking around Northumberland, Yorkshire and Cumbria for many years and have never, ever, ever encountered any problems, unless you count the occasional cow or sheep blocking your path. Indeed the whole of the rural UK is largely crime free, not just Northern England.

There are areas I would avoid for other reasons, such as areas where open cast mining takes place (it's just unsightly), or areas where there are active military firing ranges. These are easily identifiable on Ordnance Survey maps, and open cast mines can be seen on Google Earth for example. Are there any rural areas of the North you would advise backpackers to avoid; they are bypassing all towns?
the north? that's very general, which bit, lancashire, yorkshire, derbyshire, cumbria, northumberland, manchester etc...........

After High school how long do Medical Doctors have to be in school? 10 points for the best advise. Thank you?

How many board exams? Thank you. After High school how long do Medical Doctors have to be in school? 10 points for the best advise. Thank you?
In order to get your MD or DO degree you have to study for a total of 8 years.

The first step to medical school is undergrad studies. Once you get your Bachelors Degree and take your MCAT in your third year of college then you can apply to Medical school which is four years long. Once you complete Medical School you need to pass your state license medicine practice exam and then you can practice Medicine.

While medical school is competitive you are able to make mistakes and still be accepted. Medical Schools are mainly going to concern themselves with two sets of numbers when they review your application. Your GPA and your MCAT. Your GPA is a predictor of whether you will keep up with your course work and how well you will do in your basic sciences (first 2 years) of medical school. Your MCAT predicts how well you will do on your licensing examinations. A strong MCAT can make up for a weaker GPA and vice versa.

When Medical Schools review your GPA they are mostly concerned that you did well in your science and math courses and in the trend that your GPA shows. A positive trend ie, an increase in your GPA as you progress through school is better than a declining GPA.

As another note many medical schools will not accept or look highly on Biology and Chemistry(General and Organic) classes that come from community colleges or you receive via AP credit. Many will require that you take more advanced courses at the University level.

There is no ideal major to get into medical school. However many schools are no longer accepting applications from people with degrees in the fine arts. One must simply complete the requisite coursework and degree to be accepted into medical school. These courses are a 1 year of English 1 year of Physics, 1 year of General Chemistry, 1 year of Organic chemistry with labs and Integral Calculus. These are all courses that are usually covered in a Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering type program. Most people that apply and probably get accepted take more than just the bare minimum courses to get accepted. Many take courses in Molecular Genetics, Statistics, and Microbiology.

Schools with the highest acceptance rates tend to be the newer medical schools and the larger medical schools. In the case of California many student wind up leaving California for medical school to attend states with larger medical schools such as Ohio. That being said I believe the DO schools and Carribean medical schools do have a higher acceptance rate than other medical schools.

Good Luck! After High school how long do Medical Doctors have to be in school? 10 points for the best advise. Thank you?

Usually at least one board, depending on specialty
At least 7 years. In the Philippines, you can take any pre-med course (e.g. medical technology, nursing, pharmacy, biology, psychology, etc.) which takes around 4 to 6 years. Some courses (like medical technology, nursing and pharmacy) have board exams, which you may or may not take if you are going into medical school. Medicine proper, as we call it, takes 5 years: 3 years of lectures, 1 year of clerkship, and 1 year of internship. In the University of the Philippines, there is an INTARMED course which is shorter: 2 years pre-med and 5 years medicine proper. All physicians must pass just one board exam (a government licensure) in order to practice medicine. I hope you'll be a doctor too someday. Good luck!

I would like to start investing in Defaulted mortgages. Any advise?

I need companies that sell defaulted morgages in CA.I would like to start investing in Defaulted mortgages. Any advise?
You are going to have to pay more than the foreclosure value, otherwise they will foreclose themselves. You will not be able to borrow to support these so your investment will be equity, if the loans have private mortgage insurance foreclosure is required.

It would be cheaper to bid at foreclosure sales than to do this since you would also have to be a regulated lender by law. You will have to meet California's minimum unimpaired capital requirements or pay the existing institution to manage the accounts for you, which defeats the purpose.I would like to start investing in Defaulted mortgages. Any advise?
Buy lottery tickets instead. You chance of winning is virtually nil, but you'll lose less money that way!

I need to paint only part of my wall, please advise?

hi, we had a hole in the wall (don't ask what happened..lol) anyhow, we had to drywall part of the wall and now i have to repaint it (the rest was only painted 1 year ago so i don't want to do the whole room plus there are 'natural' deviders) anyhow, do i have to paint the whole part with primer or just over the drywalled part? i am just painting it the colour it was again, really dark. thx for adviceI need to paint only part of my wall, please advise?
You should be able to get away with just painting the new drywall. Prime it first, then roll your color. If you still have the orig. color, you may still notice a slight variation? That would probably dictate that you at least paint that one wall.

    I'm not sure how you define ';Natural Dividers';

They might mean you don't have to do taping? Mudding? Other than over the screw holes? BUT you didn't ask about that.

Steven WolfI need to paint only part of my wall, please advise?
Been there before. after you have patched as lon as the repair is no more than a roller wide thats all you paint with primer. when placing the other color thats different you want two paint and blend in at least 2 1/2 feet past the mark or it will be noticeable. why do I say that? I had hole in a wall that I repaired and when just painting the area damage it stood out so bad that I had to reprim the whole are and them some. afterwards I fanned out from the are so that it would blend in. Mine was trick because I hadd a feather glazing as well to do. good luck hope this helps

If the dividers are up against just fan between the dividers in damaged area it should blend in nicely.
After the paint dries, you may notice a slight color difference between the new and old paint. I used to paint the entire wall, from corner to corner and floor to ceiling. The slight color difference between the walls then wouldn't be noticeable. Good luck.

I would plant various colors of New Guinea Impatiens,, Petunia's, and maybe some miniature daisy's . You can also mix in some tulip, daffodil's, snow crocus, and thrift. All of the flowers and bulbs will re bloom every year, giving you more time for fun and less time digging in the dirt.
I plant merigolds mixed with purple petunias. It makes a striking color mixture. Also mix in a few tall snap dragons for height. They are all easy to care for and produce all season. These are annuals but inexpensive.
Hello from Cleve., Ohio! If you have impatients in your country, they are wonderful and beautiful flowers. They will mound as the season goes on. They are self-seeding, and spread throughout the season. They come in shades of pinks, reds, oranges, whites, and variegated varieties. They don't really have any fragrance, but are gorgeous. You don't have to deadhead (remove dead blossoms). They are very easy to grow. Just get the regular plants, not the New Guinea ones. Impatients will thrive in most soils, and love a shade/lsun location. I plant them every year, and each year they are gorgeous. They are also resistant to diseases. They usually grow around 4-8 inches tall. If you have Miracle Grow in England, fertilize them every 2 weeks for beautiful results. They will bloom from spring till frost. Happy Gardening. Happy Easter!
Potentillas are very nice and bloom most of the summer. This is a site with some information, but the pictures don't do justice to the plants, they are very pretty and have almost any color of flowers white , yellow, pink, red, and peach.

    woodyplants.nres.uiuc.edu/plant/potfr
You have had some good tips here. In limited space where long bloom season is reguired, go with annuals. Usually reasonably priced and generous with the blooms. That is enough sun for geraniums but they cost more than , say begonias. Under the circumstances, begonias are cheap, easy to care for, can even skip waterings. They come in white pink and red, and the leaves can be either green or a dark red. Nice contrast. In cool rainy weather, they may rot though, so if you have lots of cloudy rainy days, try impatiens, wider color choice and need the water. If you just want color, but it doesn't have to be blooms, it sounds like a good place for caladiums. You can plant them from bulbs when it gets warm, and that's not too pricey. They can share the space with allysum or some other ground covering low annual.

Good luck to you. Here is a site to show you the colors you can get.

    http://www.bizrate.com/seeds_bulbs/produ鈥?/a>
Marigolds, marigolds, marigolds. These hardy plants will bloom all summer long. I live in the south USA and had two marigold plants blooming at Christmas, quite by accident, after unseasonably warm fall and early winter. Marigolds are very inexpensive, and grow easily. When the flowers die and dry up in fall, be sure to gather the dried flower heads, as these are FULL of new seeds for your next spring's planting! Free plants! What could be better?

I usually mix my marigolds with assorted colors of petunias, as well, for variety.
Look for a border plant like alyssum which is low and blooms all the time. I have had a perennial version that came back year after year. It comes in white and purple shades and maybe more.

  • How can I advise my elderly mother who just hit a cyclist?

My 80 y.o. mother who has never had an accident just hit a cyclist while making a right turn on a red light. The approx. 20 y.o. girl's bike was damaged and she hurt her knee. Friends took her to the ER. They exchanged phone numbers. My mother just called her at ER and there was a sheriff there with her-who told my mother that he would call her with a case number. I don't know what will happen next and am frightened for her, her insurance and legally. Thoughts? How can I advise my elderly mother who just hit a cyclist?
Time for her to stop driving. How can I advise my elderly mother who just hit a cyclist?
    Relax..........

If the police are there at the hospital it is to make a report, they will come to your mom's house to get her information from her.

The very worse that will happen is they may give her a ticket for improper turn. The state may later have her come in for a mandatory re-exam to see if she is still fit to drive.

Now, as for the insurance.... if this cyclist files a law suit.. that could be litigation hell for years to come.
I believe your Mother is handling the issue correctly. I realize that some and not all elderly think they can drive safely. On the road of what Ive seen in my days makes my hair stand up.

Really, all I can say is to offer your Mother any help she may need for this issue and Im so glad the little girl was not hurt too bad.

It will all work out, no worries.
Explain to her that is why old people shouldn't drive. They are dangers to the road, and should have their loving children that they sacrificed so much for take care of them instead.
Get an attorney--NOW!!! Don't wait for the cyclist to contact her first. Tell him or her what you are telling us and start the protection immediately. Don't let her be taken advantage of because of her age. (My dad is 80, too.)

Don't assume that because they were friendly at the scene, that this will continue. As an example, my sister-in-law tapped the bumper of an elderly couple's car because they had stopped abruptly. There was no damage and the couple was friendly and told my sil not to worry about it. Then their lawyer contacted her! They had time to think about it, maybe a son or a cousin told them they could make a bundle....whatever. It's best to be proactive.

More than likely, they will drop your mom from her insurance even if this is the only accident she's ever had and she's had the same insurance for 40 years. They did that to my dad more than 10 years ago for an accident. He was classified ';high risk'; and ended up going on my brother's insurance, which wasn't a good idea, but that's another story.....

I'm sorry you both have to go through this.
Accidents happen to everyone at every age. All she can do now is cooperate with the police and insurance. I just hope that there is no lawsuit brought against her, but don't be surprised. Good Luck.
If your mother is legally licensed to drive and had auto insurance, and was driving while sober, not speeding, and didn't leave the scene of the accident, I wouldn't worry too much. She needs to call her insurance company and make a report. She then should contact an attorney and give him all the particulars of the accident. If the girl who was in the accident was at fault, that should be clarified. If a police report was made at the scene, the scenario will then reflect the police report. Not to worry. The lady was injured, but is not dead. Tell your mother to take a deep breath and try to remember that you are innocent until proven guilty. Tell her not to sign anything and not make any statements to anyone who is not the proper authority. Tell her to talk to a lawyer. Good luck.
Notify the insurance company immediately to avoid having the insurer come back and deny coverage for failure to notify. Her insurance rates will probably go up about 30% or more, and she may end up in the assigned risk pool (much bigger increase in premium load). But it's not nearly as much as having to defend the case at your own expense. It looks like there is liability exposure here--there almost always is in a MV vs. Pedestrian case, and a bicyclist is generally regarded as a pedestrian.
It could've been way worse. Your Mom will just have to go through our imperfect legal system.

Maybe it's time for your mother to stop driving?

Hi, Can anyone advise the best natural remedy for advanced prostate cancer?

There is so much information on the internet, and also many scams. Has anyone had good results from a particular remedy?

ThanksHi, Can anyone advise the best natural remedy for advanced prostate cancer?
Never read so much drivel in all my life. ';an alkaline body'; - My God...

Sorry TG but quackery can't help you. You need to persevere with evidence-based medicine I'm afraid.Hi, Can anyone advise the best natural remedy for advanced prostate cancer?
Apricot seeds. or go to the apricot power .com website and get the full regimen. This WORKS. Sometimes if cancer is very advanced it may have already done a lot of damage, but cancer CAN BE CURED! Just think about how wrong it is to take a sick person and cut, burn and poison them, which is ALL modern medicine does for cancer. They do not tell you that it can be cured with nutrition. It can. There are a lot of cancer diets out there. Most are good. A PERSONAL friend just last year was diagnosed with terminal lymphoma and given three months. He did the grape cure and he is now 100 percent cancer free. Its astounding. You can find the grape cure on line along with a lot of other diets. But you should defininetly take the apricot pits.
The brassica family of veges (cabbage, cauli, broccoli, brussel sprouts) are supposed to have good anti-cancer properties, and I've also heard that pumpkin seeds are good for prostate cancer.
You might find some useful info on this site
My brother-in-law was given 3 yrs. by Kaiser hospital drs. and another dr. gave him 6 yrs. to live because of his prostrate cancer. Wouldn't operate on him, said 67 yrs. old was too old to do any good. He went to the Santa Monica clinic is Rosarita Beach, Mexico for 3 weeks, paid $17,000 (now about $23,000). They cured his cancer with ozone, oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, natural herbs, etc. That was 10 years ago; to this day, he has no cancer. Kaiser hospital reimbursed him $30,000 within 60 days as they were afraid he was going to sue them.

He said that while he was there, many of the cancer patients were much better or cured and there were a lot of medical doctors from the U.S. getting treatment. They do a lot on breast cancer; I would go there if I got cancer.

There is another hospital in Poland that does the same procedure; Pres. Regan I hear went there. No publicity on it because of the AMA and pharmacuetical lobbyist. There is a Dr. Bernstein in Houston, TX, that uses same type of method, but is very expensive and the AMA %26amp; phamacuetical cos. tried to take his medical license away as they are totally against any natural cures....they can't make any money off it.

Often Chinese herbs, etc. will work, but not so well in advanced cases. There is a website for the Santa Monica Clinic. If interested, let me know and I'll find the website for you if you can't find it.
I don't know about prostate cancer specifically but I know that cancer can't live in an alkaline ph body. There are many ways to alkalize your body. You can get water alkalizer, eat only organic and many many cruiciferous vegitables. Cancer is cureable the natural way. Also, and this is very 'out of the box', you could buy a Zapper, invented by Hulda Clark. Make sure you do a liver and kidney cleanse, and look into heavy metal chelation. Find a naturopathic practitioner that uses a biomeridian assessment machine for the fastest natural recovery.
A range of dietary supplements and herbal medicines claim to offer new ways to prevent or treat prostate cancer and related diseases but as you mentioned many of them are scams however some supplements show promise and are slowly gaining acceptance in mainstream medicine.

    Lacking scientific evidence

A few herbal and dietary products claim to help cure or prevent cancer. There's no scientific evidence that these products work, and some may be dangerous. Three popular ';cancer-fighting'; supplements include:

Chaparral. Also known as creosote bush or greasewood, chaparral (Larrea tridentata) comes from a desert shrub found in the southwestern United States and Mexico. Research hasn't shown that the herb effectively treats cancer, and it can lead to irreversible liver failure.

PC-SPES. This mixture contains eight herbs that have been used for hundreds of years in traditional Chinese medicine to treat prostate issues and other health problems. Some studies show it may reduce cancer growth, but it can also cause side effects. It was sold as a dietary supplement, but is no longer being manufactured because some batches were found to contain prescription drug ingredients. While the individual herbs are still available, the PC-SPES mixture has not been reintroduced because further studies are needed to determine whether it's safe.

Shark cartilage. Shark cartilage contains a protein that has some ability to inhibit the formation of new blood vessels within tumors in sharks. Shark cartilage therapy is based on the theory that capsules containing shark cartilage will do the same in humans 鈥?stop and shrink cancerous tumors. However, these benefits haven't been shown in humans.

please be careful in what you look into or even eventually choose, talk with your doctor first because it's not always easy to tell which products may be unsafe, interact negatively with other medications or affect your overall cancer treatment, it's best to talk with your doctor before you take any dietary or herbal product.

the following link is an article written for alternative approaches to prostate cancer, i think you may find it useful.
try http://lef.org peruse their articles on prostate cancer which will give you good info.
Make an appointment with a registered Homeopath.

Homeopathy can help in so many ways - AND is perfectly natural !!!
some things I have read that are worth looking into are Essiac tea, Wheatgrass, tomatoes (are good for prevention), I would highly recommend seeing a naturopathic doctor.
i would suggest u go to www.apricotsfromgod.com,which is apricot seeds(b17),also phyto bjs very rapidly shrinks tumours-it is an essaic formula, many brands of which dont work ,barley grass is also worth a try gerson therapy and hulda clark cloves/wormwood/greenblack walnut.,which definatly stops growth.give em a go!
I read some of the answers that you got and someone mentioned colloidal silver. Colloidal silver hampers the breathing pattern of viruses and bacteria. Each individual is different from another and so we respond differently to what is given to us. Somebody also mentioned wheatgrass, we are regular users of this also and it's true, cancer doesn't prosper in an alkaline body. Dr. Hulda Klark mentioned that there are only 2 causes of diseases -- pollutants and parasites. Dr. Klark recommends the zapper which we use greatly in our household.

Personally, I'd like to suggest that you try taking a lot of the wheatgrass, do the zapper (surf it, see where you can get it); and add Saw Palmetto and the Omega 3/6/9 combination to your supplements. I trust the Solgar brand; a little bit more expensive than the others but it seems to be purer. God bless.
    NO.... sorry.
Came across a naturopath who claims that he cured his own prostate cancer with very large doses of colloidal silver without getting argyria. Perhaps you could consult a naturopath. The colloidal silver would have to be TRUE colloidal silver to avoid getting argyria.

A web search for ';true colloidal silver products'; will give you some useful information.

Another web search for ';colloidal silver'; + ';advanced prostate cancer treatment'; will give you further information.

What can you advise to the many people especially the youth regarding this matter, Global Warming? ?

In your opinion, is it really too late to act? What can you advise to the many people especially the youth regarding this matter, Global Warming? ?
If anyone tries to sell you something and they say it's the greatest thing ever and you have to buy it right now you have no time to decide if you are making the right decision don't walk away from them RUN!

Now consider that the Global Warming proponents are trying to sell you on their theory and they say if you don't act right now without thinking it through first then...don't just walk away from them RUN!What can you advise to the many people especially the youth regarding this matter, Global Warming? ?
I advise anyone currently in school to realize their educators are individuals who never achieved anything in life. In ages past, educators were experts in their respective fields. They were people who'd actually made a living out in the ';real world';, before settling down to teach their trade to others.

Today's teachers are little more than dispensers of books, regurgitating whatever the author of the latest textbook put into print. If the texts didn't come with ';teacher's edition'; answer keys, teachers would fair little better than their students on the text-based tests.

Many devote as much faith to college professors (the authors of today's textbooks) as others devote to Jesus himself. Remember: textbooks are written by individuals. They do not come from some ultimate truth, collective source of human knowledge. Individuals are fallible. Individuals with no experience are doubly so.

In the case of man-made global warming...understand it never showed up in textbooks 15 years ago (and it'll be absent from them again, 15 years from now).
I think most are confused by the fact that yes in the last 150 years the global average temperature has gone up by .7c. The point seen by skeptics is that 1850 was at the bottom of the Dalton solar minimum and so unnaturally cold. The real question is the basic claims made by the AGW fraternity as a priest uses the mantras and dogma of his church.

First is that it has never been this hot (1998) in all of human history.

Well any decent historian or geologist knows that it has been considerably hotter at least 5 time previously in the last 8,000 years and one of those was only 600 years ago and another only 1,000 years ago. Both of these warm periods are exceedingly well documented historically and scientifically.

Second is that it has never gotten so hot so fast in all of human history. Well in that incident just 600 years ago it went in about 100 years from about 1.5c colder than present to 1c hotter than present (1998) and back to 1.5c colder. Historians dealing with the period and geologists worldwide document this 1400 event. Knowing these basic facts since my school days when they were covered as part of the basic education leaves me highly suspicious of the quality of the education children are getting these days.

Well the discussion still comes down to facts against opinion and all the facts still show that the current climate optimum is the coolest in 8,000 years. In fact of the 4 climate optimums in the last 1,000 years it is still the coolest and from onset to peak has been twice as long as the preceding ones. All the evidence proves our current climate is perfectly natural and that the alarmists are at war with harmless plant food that actually helps keep the planet from overheating at one end of the spectrum and getting to cold at the other. It is a climate moderator not a driver. All the listed factors of AGW still lack any even basic studies that warrant calling it a theory and in fact scientifically it does not even warrant being called a hypotheses. So far the best it can be termed is a political talking point, nothing more.
The earths climate has been going up and down for billions of years. I'd like to know where the so called global warming was last winter when it was 30 below 0 every night! Have you heard of the radio broadcast on oct.30,1938 Orson Welles reading The War of the Worlds a sci-fi novel written by H.G. Wells? A lot of people thought martians were landing on earth to take over! Some people will believe just about anything.
Do some research of both sides of the argument and make your own decision and don't just accept the beliefs of others.

    Think for your self.
Be certain that you ask your teachers/professors for ALL sides of the Global Warming (man-caused) issue.
Don't be an overzealous hippy! we have enough of them already!
    Better late than never.
Pay attention to REAL science in school. Not this new age nonsense.
U young people are being scammed out of your future.
its too late to prevent some changes as they are already happening, but its not too late to prevent strong warming that will threaten lives and livelihoods of many people. what we achieve in de-carbonising the world's economies in the next 10 years will be crucial.
It's definitely not too late to act. It's too late to completely prevent global warming, but if we don't do anything to slow it down, we will be in an even worse situation. The sooner we act, the better.

Want to buy a notebook but i have limited knowledge as to what brand suits me. can you advise which brand ?

which brand works best for spreadsheet, word and emailing? can you specify the specs?Want to buy a notebook but i have limited knowledge as to what brand suits me. can you advise which brand ?
It's a widely known fact that businesses use PCs far more often than the use Macs. Microsoft Office is the standard system and the most feature packed version of Office is always on the PC.

That said, your question is a bit like asking ';which brand of car is best to get me to and from work';. That is, you're not doing anything special with spreadsheets, word, and email. virtually any computer made in the last 12 years can do all that perfectly well. Now if you said which can edit video best, that would be different... like asking what car can handle off-road best... that's not an everyday use.

Really, go read consumer reports and pc magazine at your local library. While we can all tell you use this or use that... we all have our biases and if you want an HONEST, UNBIASED view, you need a MUCH larger sampling than the 2-20 answers you'll get here - those magazines have THOUSANDS of opinions factored in.

One thing I will recommend, any brand you buy should have a 3 year warranty with accidental damage protection. A desktop or tower sits in the area of your desk and never moves. A laptop is banged around constantly. It's more expensive to fix and FAR more likely to get damaged. The 3 3 year warranty and accidental damage protection will help ensure you didn't spend $1000-$2000 on a large paperweight.Want to buy a notebook but i have limited knowledge as to what brand suits me. can you advise which brand ?
I would buy a Toshiba Satellite. They are a basic computer but these days come with a 160 gig hard drive, dual processor etc. Just make sure you get the office software you need in order to do the excel spreadsheets, etc.
Your looking at a basic machine. So pretty much any base model laptop or notebook would suit your needs. You really need to decide a few things that are important to you such as size of the screen, how much your willing to spend, does it need to be light, etc. Once you head down to a local store you might get a better feel of what suits your needs best. My guess is the screen will be the deciding factor along with price. In general I have had excellent luck with Toshiba, Gateway and Apple laptops.
go with the macbooks. simply put...they are more stable, faster, funner to use, quieter, easier to use, no viruses, and dare i say a lot prettier. as a previous pc owner, macs come with a lot less headaches and stress compared to a pc
    Dell XPS M1330, Intel庐 Core鈩?2 Duo T5450, 1.6GHz, 13.3'; WXGA, 2GB RAM, 120GB, CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW Drive), 802.11b/g, Bluetooth, 2.0 Megapixel Integrated Webcam, Windows Vista鈩?Home Premium Edition 禄 for $999.98 at Staples.com

This is the best deal i have found as of today. I have recommended the same laptop for a friend and she was very happy with her decision.

If you need any further clarification please get back to me.

MacBooks are your best shot, as they have intercapability options for multiple-operating-systems (if you need a Microsoft or other OS specific application) and there is heaps of programs for Mac (even Microsoft makes a special edition of Office for them) and they have some of the best hardware around, with built in Webcams and all. They come with good Mac applications (so that you don't have to spend a fortune getting the software for the hardware!) and are ready to use from the moment you unpack. Getting accessories is easy, there is mice that automatically intergrade and remotes that do the same. They all come with Wireless (so that you can connect to networks, which is a savior) and enough memory to last the average computer user a life-time. They are sleek and have wide-ish screens great for spreadsheets, but are yet small and compact, easy to carry. They cost about $2000(NZ) for normal, and if you pay extra you can get black. If you want to upgrade to metal-chrome-thing and better memory/applications you can get a MacBook pro. All have Bluetooth, so most phones and even some MP3s can intergrate instantly, wirelessly. MacBooks are easy to use and are great for beginners who are on to use email etc. and the hardcore people who want to code, as well as being perfectly suited to all enviroments (work, home, etc.) and are extremely tough. They have a look good enough for even the most fussy to adore them instantly but aren't super expensive. Easily capable of most games, as well as being able to have multiple OSes (Operating Systems) on them, so you can have Windows as well as your normal Mac.

Their accessories are well built and they do wonders with your iPod, iPhone and everything else Apple.
MacBook %26gt; you have all you need and more. It is user friendly, and even looser friendly. Cool features and programs, and not that expensive.

Can someone please advise what are the items that I should put on sale in my new store for ladies fashion?

I am opening a new fashion store for ladies and I want to include as many items as possible like denims, tshirts, shoes, inner garments, cosmetics, belts, purse, etc. So, if someone have more ideas, I would like to be advised on what varieties of items I should put in my new store. Please help. Can someone please advise what are the items that I should put on sale in my new store for ladies fashion?
You should do dresses (both formal and informal/casual), add accessories such as leg warmers, hats, cute keychains, perfumes, ... stuff like that...Can someone please advise what are the items that I should put on sale in my new store for ladies fashion?
Have a huge clearance rack of everything ! all women will come if you advertise sale everyone is just looking for a great bargain and most people don't like to shop retail anymore. And offer more of a selection of clothes for women size 8 and up. The truth is most women don't wear a size2. I hate when I go to a store and I love a outfit but they don't have my size there would be a whole rack left in sizes 0-6 and 8-12 is always gone. Shop to cater to the average american woman and not the supermodel.
if you are gonna do cosmetics you should also do...

    extensions and hair glue

    also:

    skinny jeans

    scarfs

    jewelry

    perfume
You should put in a few henlys, hoodies, and graphic shirts. Put in some straight leg jeans, not many stores sell them, and they're pretty comfy and popular

    Good luck!

  • So i was wondering if anyone could give me some advise on getting rid of Spider veins?

There are a few different treatments for spider veins. This first is Sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy involves, 鈥榠njections of a sclerosing solution to dissolve and eliminate鈥?your spider veins. This has been known to reduce or eliminate the cramping, burning, swelling, and aching that sometimes accompanies spider veins. The price for Sclerotherapy ranges from $150-$400 per treatment, and only a licensed professional will be able to tell you how many treatments you may need.

Another effective treatment is laser spider vein removal. The lasers work by targeting the blood vessels in spider veins. The surrounding tissue remains intact as the capillaries absorb the energy and are eliminated. The resulting dead vein is harmlessly absorbed back into your body. Laser Spider vein removal generally costs between $350-$500 per treatment and like Sclerotherapy only a licensed professional will be able to tell you how many treatments you may need.So i was wondering if anyone could give me some advise on getting rid of Spider veins?
aside from laser therapy, rosemary essential oil is great (mixed with some olive oil or another base oil) or 'vitamin K 'products work too

Can you please advise the quickest way to go from JFK Airport to Manhattan?

Those previous answers are correct assuming cost is a factor. Technically the fastest way between JFK and Manhattan is via helicopter. It's $175 per person one way. However, it's very quick. You can go to/from either the downtown or midtown heliport and JFK. FYI... it's great to do on the way TO the airport because it drops you off inside security so there is no need to wait to go through security at the airport. Can you please advise the quickest way to go from JFK Airport to Manhattan?
The Port Authority's AirTrain links the airport with the Long Island Railroad (a commuter line) at Jamaica Station and the MTA Subway at Howard Beach (A train) and Jamaica Station (the E and J/Z trains). Jamaica Station would be your best bet for a transfer point, as both the LIRR and the MTA's Subway's E train go to Penn Station in midtown Manhattan. Can you please advise the quickest way to go from JFK Airport to Manhattan?
My friend, it depends on what park of Manhattan are you going. There are 3 ways to get to Manahattan.

    Option 1

Take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station and transfer to the New York City subway. Take the ';E'; train (Blue Line) from Jamaica Station in to Manhattan.

    Option 2

Take the Airtrain to Jamaica Station and transfer to the Long Island Railroad. Take any westbound train to Penn Station.

    Option 3

Take the Airtrain to the Howard Beach subway station and transfer to the New York City subway. Take the ';A'; train (Blue Line) from Howard Beach in to Manhattan.

Since you did not mention what street you're going, this is the best I can do. If you need travel direction from JFK to Manhattan, I need an address so I can help you out. Drop me a line by click on the avatar and the e-mail icon and I'll be glad to help from there.

Good luck and Welcome to New York City.

    Native New Yorker
    From fastest to slowest:

    1. Helicopter: JFK to downtown in 10 minutes. It leaves every 30 minutes. ($175 per person)

    2. Taxi / car service (depending on traffic) ($60 per car)

    3. Airtrain / subway. Should take around 1 hour to get from JFK to 51st and Lexington. ($7 per person)

    4. Shared ride in van / bus (depending on the service you usue, usually around $15 per person)
Taxi-- its 45$ each way. It could take as little as 20 mins if there is no traffic, but most likely it will be more like 30 mins-45 mins.

Otherwise the Airport express bus can get you to manhattan in about 45min to 1 hour at about 1/3rd the price of a taxi.
Taxis are the quickest, except in rush hour. There are buses and vans that go directly to the Grand Central area, or you can get the Air Train to the subway.

I need some advise on improving my running skills?

i need to be able to run 3 miles in 18 mins. in the next 6 months. right now i can barely run a mile in 10 mins. please help. any tips and advice will be much appreciated.I need some advise on improving my running skills?
That'll be a tough assignment. Personally, I don't think its possible. The best way to improve your running though would be a training plan. Runnersworld.com has a bunch of good training plans to choose from. Here is a great article on hill training, which you will definitely need to speed up your runs. Good luck!

http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,71鈥?/a>I need some advise on improving my running skills?
All you can do is run run run.

Do like twice a days or something

You are really going to have to be determined to be able to pull that off

Looking for some advise on 1st round pick?

I have my draft tonite and there are 10 teams. I have the 2nd pick. In past years I have always picked a RB first, but I am stuck on this one this year. Who would be your first pick? If it's a RB would it be LT or Peterson? Then we snake back if there is still a good RB left would you take him over a QB?Looking for some advise on 1st round pick?
If LT is there second take him. Otherwise you have to go with adrian peterson. I would say o the way back take another good running back like an ernest ghram or maybe maurice jones drew. Then take good QB like brees because chances are the guy in front of you will take Romo and another running backLooking for some advise on 1st round pick?
I had the second pick in a draft this year. In my league, one qb starts and 2 to 3 RBs can start, I chose a RB first. I think Tom Brady might be a good early pick but with 2 or 3 slots to fill at RB, I think you have to choose LT, AP or Westbrook (whoever you feel would be best and wasn't taken at #1 - IMO in that order).

If you have a standard league, and only start one QB, Peyton Tom or Tony might be the top tier but they really don't score that much more each week than a Rothlesburger or a Palmer. But LT, AP or Westbrook do score significantly more each week than an Earnest Graham. So I would suggest going RB and you can DEFINATELY get Romo or Peyton with your second pick if you REALLY need one of them. But the way I did it was I picked up 2 WRs with my 2nd adn 3rd picks (Wayne and Edwards). Then I got another RB adn then a QB and then I got backups, a TE and a D.
if your the 2nd pick youll go LT or Peterson,

then on the way back in the second round it will go 10th pick to first so in the case youll have the 19th and then the 22nd pick you can go RB and then QB or vise versa if you want, their will only be 2 players coming off the list before your 3rd pick. but you cant really think to much ahead it all depends on who off the board and whats left by the time your 2nd and 3rd pick come back to you
I was in the exact same situation that you are in, I mean exactly. You are just going to have to go with the flow tonight because LT was picked first, then I picked AP. When it came back to me I picked Marshawn Lynch because Gore, Jackson, Addai were gone. Look for those three if they are still open when it comes back to you. It is all about knowing who is in and out, and when my pick came back I picked up Braylon Edwards after lynch. Don't be in too big a hurry to pick a QB up, go for a top ten running back. Good luck in your draft!
Look For Frank Gore..he is a stud
LT will most likely be 1st pick so go with Peterson on your second pic it will depend on what everyone else has picked I would go with the best availble RB and use 3 on either the best availble WR or if one of the top 3 QBs is still there grab Brady, Manning, or Romo
I think the person above me doesn't understand that you have SECOND pick. Which means Adrian Peterson or LT should be on there. Take LT if he is still up there. Tom Brady can't cover for his points. Adrian Peterson if he isn't. Frank Gore is good, but the offensive line is a little weak. Your 3rd pick should be Brian Westbrook, if for some reason you trade down. Hope this helps =)
