I am an amiture writer and have a book complete but not published. what is the best advise to a beginner?

This book is somewhat contrversial in the story line and its based on part my life and what I have researched on. i want it published very much! I want too help or give back and this has always been my goal with this book.I am an amiture writer and have a book complete but not published. what is the best advise to a beginner?
The next step on publishing a book is to revise it. Go back through and check for misspellings and where you can tighten it up or broaden it. You also, since you based it on your life, want to change names and descriptions of any of the real life people so you won't get sued.

Before you even begin to do that, though, you want to sit back and read it with the eyes of a stranger. Do you like it? Would you pay money for it? If you answer with an objective no, you need to rethink it. Would it be better as fiction? Could it be more limited in scope? Could you raise the tension? Are you TELLING the story instead of SHOWING it?

You've achieved something in getting the story complete. Most beginning writers never get that far. Now, since you are seeking publication, you need to buckle down and really learn how to write a book that editors will pay money for. That means learning how to look at your work objectively, how to edit, and how to submit a professional work.I am an amiture writer and have a book complete but not published. what is the best advise to a beginner?
1. make number of copies of your book

2.send it to large number of publishers

3.this way you are increasing the chances of your book getting published.
Don't bother. Judging my your terrible spelling and grammar, you don't care enough to be a writer.

That's not a criticism, it's an honest observation.

Another reason why you should tear up your manuscript:

writing is a dog's life.

I know.

I have the books on the shelves to prove it.
Best advice? Get a good editor. Or at least a grammar and spell checker. Because if your post is any indication of your book, you probably won't find a publisher who will read beyond the first paragraph.
you need to start by getting hold of a copy of the publishers almanac. this contains the listings for publishers literary agents etc. get the draft u have profeshionally finished, proof read spell checked. then approach agents with your work. you need an agent!! sadly publishers wont generally deal directly with writers. Send off your stuff or a sample of it to various agents and see how u get on! be prepared for knock backs, but dont give up !!

best of luck.
Are you being serious|?
Dont let the nitwits who are mocking your spelling discourage you. Saroyan had trouble with english, but HE got published. A good editor would be the best start, then present the result to multiple publishers. It would also be helpful to link up with one of these on-line writers rings, or even with writers who live near you. Feedback from people you respect is priceless.

You could try self-publishing, but this is very difficult. I know, I have been self-published on public bathroom walls all across the my country!
Spell check it, if your question is any indication.
Yeah, spell check it first. Then submit it to several book publishers with a book synopsis about the content of book and competition out there. It is worth a try since it is complete. Very good chance of publishing it. It is the unfinished books that have problems. You are on your way. Write, submit, write is the goal.....good luck.
'Netnazivictim' is correct. If you can't spell, you may be in no position to write a book. Have you studied English? Have you taken classes in writing? Both your spelling and grammar indicate that you have problems with writing a basic sentence. You may want to consider solving these issues before trying to get published.
OK, well first of all, you can't really go up to someone and say, '; Here's my book, I want it published';. You have to work for it. You need to take a lot of classes, and study everything you can. You say that you are a beginner.. so why are you trying to get your book published now?? You should WANT to work harder, and improve your skills. You say your book is somewhat contriversal... well, no offense, but doesn't it have to be FULLY contriversal? And the other 2 answers were also true: Improve your spelling and grammar.

*** Hint Hint**** You spelled amature wrong...and advice, and contriversal, and with your grammar, too should be to, and if you are as great a writer as you say you are, then you would know that you needed to put a comma before and. ...

I'm not trying to put you down or anything... I encourage you to keep writing, This was COMPLETELY constructive criticism. Just to let you know.. I am 11, and I found mistakes, and you seem to be an adult... ??

Sorry if I came on a little strong, but I was just voicing my opinion .... GOOD LUCK!!!
start smaller, not easier. Take one idea from your book and write a 3000 to 6000 word short story. Have an impartial individual read it and give you an honest opinion.

Send it to some magazines, BE SURE to read the guidelines for submissions.

Nothing is easy to get published, and you won't make money--you'll be lucky to cover the postage if it sells at all. Some magazines do not pay in currency, but rather in copies. But if you want to get your story out there, don't expect ANY publisher to put it in print if it isn't already print ready.. They won't read past the first three paragraphs if they have to stumble over errors and poor writing.

It is work, and anyone who puts they the time and trouble into being a writer isn't an amateur, they are a writer.
