Does anyone know good advise in keeping control of a hot temper?

It just seems so very difficult in controlling one's temper when they deal with another's bad attitude. Is there anything a person can do as far as controlling their emotions, so it avoids a person's own self destruction?Does anyone know good advise in keeping control of a hot temper?
If you practice developing compassion toward others, this will become easier over time. You will be able to laugh at the poor jerk who cut you off in traffic, smile at the poor soul who gets stressed out because they screwed up your order at the Starbucks, chuckle lovingly at deluded attitudes and behaviors -- all while saying a little prayer to yourself for the suffering of the other person.





It doesn't come naturally because all our lives we are trained to grasp at our own egos and make ourselves ';#1.'; But you can get there, and when you do you'll find it a very happy place to be.





In the mean time, something you can try in the moment that things like this come up: picture the other person as yourself. you've just made a mistake by acting poorly or treating another person unkindly. deep down, you know it was a mistake. how would you like to be treated? then, treat that person in that way.
